About the course

This qualification is ideal for trade beginners. The course covers many study elements within the plumbing and domestic heating trade. The course consists of both practical and knowledge based learning in a realistic working environment. Upon completion you are placed at plumber’s mate level.

The qualification will cover the following:

This NVQ qualification covers all the essential knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in domestic plumbing and heating. The qualification includes mandatory units, including:

  • Understand and carry out safe working practices in building services engineering
  • Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation and maintenance
  • Understand and apply domestic above ground drainage system installation and maintenance techniques
  • Install and maintain domestic heating systems

Candidate is also required to complete on-site work evidence. This enables the candidate to demonstrate the practical competence of carrying out plumbing and heating jobs and also achieve the practical element of the qualification.

Applicant must have achieved the City & Guilds 6035-02 Plumbing Diploma Level 2 to apply for this NVQ qualification.

Who are they for?

This NVQ Level 2 course will suit you if you have relevant plumbing and heating qualification and skills. On site experience is required, usually from a role where you’ve been supervised.

This course will last approximately between 6- 12 months pending on the completion of the on-site work evidence.
