About the course
This course is aiming to provide all gas operatives with their CCN1 (domestic core gas safety) assessment or reassessment in order to be eligibility for Gas Safe registration. All gas operatives and heating engineers, who install, maintain and repair domestic gas appliances must hold the relevant qualifications for the areas of work respectively. Operatives are required to obtain qualifications under the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS). This certification scheme is regulated by the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS). This certification need to be renewed every five years.
Course content
You will be able to choose from the following appliances:
CENWAT - Central heating boilers/hot water circulators/Water heaters
CKR1 - Cookers
HTR1 - Space heaters (including gas fires and wall heaters)
DAH1 - Warm air heating appliances
MET1 - Meters
CPA1- Combustion performance analysis of domestic appliances
Training - The training section covers the 15 core competences in gas safety, appliances practical and theory update. It will prepare individuals to confidently complete the ACS initial assessment or reassessment.
Assessment - The assessment section includes both online theory exam and practical assessment. To ensure that the applicant is competence in carrying out the work safely, the practical assessments involve a series of practical checks to the standard of certification scheme.
Duration
1 day per appliance
Please note that the training and assessment section of this course is not compulsory. Candidate can choose not to attend the training. In practice very few applicants take assessments only. Our assessors and trainers do recommend candidate complete the course by undertaking necessary training prior the assessment.
Entry requirements
For initial assessment, applicant need to present suitable certificate before enrolment such as NVQ certificate, Approved Prior Learning certificate etc.
For re-assessment, applicant must present previous ACS assessment certificate before enrolment, such as CCN1 or certificate for any number of appliances.
