This course includes the following two units:

• Basic Plumbing
• Pre APL (Foundation Domestic Gas Safety Course)

Basic Plumbing is designed for beginners who would like to start their career as a plumber or potentially entering into the gas industry. Training is focused on hands-on practical work.

Pre APL is designed for beginners who have very limited skill background as a foundation domestic gas safety training programme. It is also a preparation course for the main APL (Approved Prior Learning & Natural Gas Safety) course. Training is focused on hands-on practical work.

Basic Plumbing

• Understand plumbing tools and materials
• Project inspection and site work preparation
• Working with non-manipulative compression fittings
• Copper pipe bending and jointing
• Working with steel pipe work and fittings
• Connecting plastic fittings to a utility sink
• Removal and refitting a water-filled radiator
• Connecting plastic fittings to a cold water cistern and central heating header tank

Pre APL

• Pipework skills
• Basic gas appliances functions
• Basic flueing
• Principles of combustion

5 Weeks, 2 days per week.
