NVQ Level 2/3 Heating & Ventilating Domestic
This work based course is primarily designed to reflect the roles and responsibilities of existing operatives working within either the Domestic or Industrial/Commercial Heating & Ventilating Industry, who have a wide range of knowledge and experience, but do not possess a formal Industrial trade qualification.
The course is intended to ensure that candidates are conversant with the current practices and procedures within the Building Services Industry.
The content of the course will vary according to the needs of the candidates on an individual basis. This need will be assessed during the induction interview process.
The aims of the course are to meet the needs of candidates who work in the Building Engineering Services Industry, enabling them to demonstrate the knowledge and practical skills required for them to be able to function as a valuable team member, working alongside colleagues carrying out complex installations and also to gain the recognised qualification and trade card.
- Assessment for the course is based on the satisfactory completion of a portfolio of work based evidence either from past experience APL or current work.
- This portfolio is completed within the workplace under supervision if required and assessed at regular intervals by a qualified City & Guilds Assessor.
- It is a mandatory requirement of the course that all evidence is certified as Authentic/Valid and Current by the candidates Employer, and that at least 2 on site live assessments will be carried out by the City & Guilds Assessor. Candidates will be responsible for arranging these site assessment visits during the course.
- For entry on to the course, candidates must provide proof of past and current employment within the industry.
- Candidates must remain in permanent employment for the duration of the time that it takes to complete the portfolio.
- Candidates should not register for this qualification if you hold or are registered with City & Guilds or another awarding body for a similar qualification.
- Candidates must have sufficient trade knowledge and experience to produce a satisfactory portfolio.
- There will also be a mandatory attendance of 20 hours duration for up-dating courses, portfolio building and other training sessions as deemed necessary by your Assessor.
- The course will generally last no longer than one year.
- During that time candidates will be required to attend for Induction, Registration and portfolio assessment sessions.
- These 20 hours attendance can be spread over a number of sessions as required.
