The course has been designed by City & Guilds to support the government initiative towards the National Qualification Framework. It contributes towards the knowledge and understanding required for the related N/SVQ while not requiring or providing evidence of occupational competence.

The course covers the following topical areas:

• Working effectively and safely in the Plumbing Heating industry.
• Principles of Cold and Hot supply.
• Heating Systems.
• H&V theory and Practical.

The course is made up of:

• One multiple choice on line test (Core 101 Unit).
• Two multiple choice papers (201 & 202) which are marked internally according to the marking criteria, with quality assurance monitoring by City & Guilds external verification system.

The course is for candidate who:

• are following apprenticeship programmes.
• Who do and do not have access to an N/SVQ.
• Wish for career progression within the H&V industry.

However, candidate must have Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy.
