The course has been designed by City and Guilds to support the government initiatives towards the National Qualification Framework. It contributes towards the knowledge and understanding required for the related N/SVQ while not requiring or providing evidence of occupational competence.

The course covers the following topical areas:

• Working effectively and safely in the electro-technical environment.
• Principles of electro-technology.
• Application of Health and Safety and Electrical Principles.
• Installation Theory and Practical.

The course is made up of:

• Four multiple-choice on-line test units (i.e. three core units and one occupational unit).
• Two assignments, which are marked internally according to the marking criteria, with quality assurance monitoring by City and Guild's external verification system.

The course is for candidates who:

• are following apprenticeship programmes.
• who do and do not have access to an N/SVQ.
• wish for career progression within the electro-technical industry.

However, candidates must have Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy

It is a 2-day/week course for 44 weeks.

Your may be eligible to study towards Electro-Technical Technology Level 3 if you have Level 2 certificate or equivalent.
